![]() The horrific events of September 11 inspired this peace sign/dream catcher. The irony to me is that achieving peace necessitates war or acts of violence (hence the use of chains and the sawblade for the peace sign). The red, white and blue braid is composed of firework fusewire from the 1976 American Bicentennial Celebration in Washington DC, marking the 'birth' of our "free and peaceful nation" while the hawk feathers dangling in the center ask us to remember those that inhabited this land prior to it's being the U.S., and are a somber and ironic reminder to acknowledge what we, Americans, did and do to get to where we are.
